Daryl Matthews, M.D., Ph.D.
Daryl Matthews, M.D., Forensic Psychiatrist, received his M.D. and Ph.D. in sociology from Johns Hopkins University and completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the University of Virginia. He has served on the faculties of Johns Hopkins, the University of Virginia, Boston University, and the University of Arkansas, where he was Professor and Director of Education in Psychiatry and Adjunct Professor of Law.
He is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Director Emeritus of the Forensic Psychiatry Program at the University of Hawaii and Forensic Psychiatry Health Services Command Consultant at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu.
An award-winning psychiatric educator, Dr. Matthews is an Examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and he sits on the editorial board of the PRITE Exam, the world’s most widely-used standardized test of professional competence in psychiatry. He has chaired the Education Committee and the Ethics Committee of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.
He has consulted and testified nationwide on scores of major civil and criminal cases, the majority of which involve violent behavior.
